Intake Specialist and Food Pantry Assistant

Reports to Associate Director of Food & Support Services

Job Summary:

The Intake Specialist & Food Pantry Assistant is a full-time position that serves as the first point of contact for our neighbors who visit the food pantry to help them check in and update their information. This position also requires data/document collection to ensure the clients qualify for services and to make referrals for other services as needed. Being a team player is essential in this role as you may need to help restock the pantry during down time.

The Intake Specialist & Food Pantry Assistant handles client data entry and file management, collection, and review of client documents.

Major Responsibilities

· Collect and enter client data and documents within 48 hours

· Answer inquiry calls and emails from prospective clients

· Assist clients with registration forms

· Assist with restocking food pantry, before and after food pantry distribution hours

· Attend community food distribution events

· Packing and weighing boxes for Pantry2Godistributions

· Reminder calls to Pantry2Go clients

· Community outreach

· Other duties as assigned

Qualifications /skills

· Bilingual required

· High school Diploma/ GED required, bachelor's degree in any field (preferred)

· Minimum two years' experience working with diverse populations or a bachelor's degree in human services

· Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Exhibit excellent customer service skills and de-escalation skills

· Ability to work independently and be a self-starter

· Ability to work as a team

· Ability to prioritize tasks

· Exhibit excellent time management skills

· Possess working knowledge/use of computers including Microsoft Programs

· Ability to lift up to 30 lbs

· Ability to work 40 hours per week
