As Kids Life continues to grow, Lakewood Church is expanding our ministry to include midweek Wednesday services, creating additional opportunities to serve and invest in the next generation.
We are seeking passionate, dependable, and Christ-centered individuals who enjoy teaching, mentoring, and caring for elementary-age children in a safe, engaging, and faith-filled environment.
As an Elementary Teacher, you’ll primarily serve children in 1st through 5th grade, helping them learn biblical truth, grow in their faith, and experience the love of Christ through meaningful classroom ministry.
This part-time opportunity is especially suited for individuals seeking flexible hours and meaningful work while making an impact in the lives of children and families each week.
Compensation
- $14 per hour base pay
- $20 per hour Sunday premium rate
Work Schedule
- Part-time, 12 to 20 hours per pay period
- Sunday 7:30 a.m.- 2 p.m. and Wednesday 6:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m.
- Additional hours may be available for special events as needed
What You’ll Do
Working directly with the Elementary Manager, you’ll help create a safe, welcoming, and engaging ministry environment where elementary-age children can learn, participate, and grow.
Teach & Minister to Children
- Minister to children through teaching, guiding, comforting, and encouraging them
- Teach assigned curriculum with enthusiasm
- Care for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of children
- Engage children at their individual developmental stages
- Help ensure quality ministry takes place in the assigned classroom or role
- Primarily serve children in 1st through 5th grade while remaining flexible to assist with children of other ages or in different ministry roles as needed
Create a Safe & Positive Classroom Experience
- Follow established Child Safety and Emergency protocols in accordance with Lakewood Church policies and applicable requirements
- Help children transition successfully between activities and classroom environments
- Respond appropriately and positively to challenging behaviors
- Model a Christ-like attitude in interactions with children, parents, volunteers, staff, and leaders
- Help ensure children, parents, Kids Life staff, and volunteers have a positive experience
- Maintain professionalism, discretion, and a Christ-like attitude when handling sensitive or confidential information
Serve as Part of the Kids Life Team
- Work cooperatively with Kids Life staff, volunteers, coordinators, and ministry leaders
- Look for opportunities to assist with classroom transitions, additional duties, and team needs
- Encourage and inspire volunteer commitment in others
- Maintain a cooperative and respectful attitude
- Remain gracious, kind, and loving even in high-pressure situations
- Be open to correction and responsive to volunteer and staff leadership
- Maintain flexibility when classroom assignment changes are needed
Be Prepared & Dependable
- Arrive in assigned areas on time, prepared, and ready to serve
- Maintain a high level of dependability and reliability for assigned work schedules
- Communicate schedule changes promptly with the Elementary Manager, Coordinator, and other appropriate staff
- Complete assigned paperwork and classroom clean-up
- Attend Kids Life team meetings, staff meetings, and area trainings
- Maintain availability for regular ministry days, including Sundays and Wednesdays, and for special events as needed
- Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum six months of volunteer, daycare, or teaching experience
- One year of volunteer, daycare, or teaching experience preferred
