The Human Resources Generalist provides full-scope HR support, working closely with the HR Director and team to ensure smooth execution of HR processes across recruiting, onboarding, compliance, employee engagement, and more.
Key Responsibilities:- Partner with the HR Director to execute department objectives and provide support across all HR functions.
- Maintain and update personnel files for active and inactive employees to ensure proper documentation.
- Enter and manage employee information in the HRIS (UKG), ensuring timely and accurate recordkeeping.
- Conduct and coordinate new hire orientations covering HR policies, benefits, safety training, and company culture.
- Assist with bi-weekly payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and alignment with timekeeping data.
- Administer benefits including enrollment, terminations, changes, and monthly invoice reconciliations.
- Coordinate onboarding logistics with HR and Safety departments to ensure a smooth transition for new hires.
- Respond to wage verifications, garnishments, and child support requests from outside agencies.
- Ensure HR practices are compliant with federal and state laws including EEO, I-9s, E-Verify, ADA, FMLA, OSHA, and others.
- Manage offboarding processes including exit interviews, asset collection, and benefit termination.
- Assist with employee relations matters, including conducting investigations and drafting documentation for leadership review.
- Provide backup support to the receptionist as needed.
- Coordinate random, post-accident, and for-cause drug testing in line with company policies.
- Maximize utilization of HRIS tools for productivity, compliance tracking, and reporting on compensation, structure, and benefits.
- Maintain and update organizational charts and generate weekly HR reports.
- Support ad hoc HR projects, compliance audits, and reporting as needed.
- Assist in recruitment processes by reviewing resumes, conducting initial interviews, and coordinating with hiring managers.
- Help manage employee engagement efforts including culture initiatives, recognition programs, and feedback surveys.
- Stay up-to-date with changes to employment laws and ensure company-wide compliance.
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Human Resources or related field, or a minimum of 3 years HR experience.
- Solid understanding of HR policies, labor laws, and best practices.
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience working with HR software systems (UKG strongly preferred).
- Google Workspace proficiency preferred (Docs, Sheets, Drive).
- SHRM or HRCI certification preferred (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, etc.).
