Data Engineer (Atscale + Kimball)

We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer with expertise in AtScale to help our client to improve their loyalty program by migrating and upgrading their data analysis capabilities.

The project will involve transforming data from the curated layer into the refined layer, building the semantic layer, and defining measures, dimensions, hierarchies, and relationships within the data.

• Conduct POC for AtScale. 
• Evaluate and recommend the best semantic layer platform for our needs. 
• Recreate existing SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) cubes in the selected platform. 
• Translate existing DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) code into the new platform 
• Leverage MDX (Multidimensional Expressions) and SQL as needed based on the selected platform. 
• Define measures, dimensions, hierarchies, and relationships to build the semantic layer 
• Transform data from the curated to the refined layer, ensuring proper business logic is applied. 

• Deep knowledge of AtScale and MDX calculations. 
• Strong proficiency in SQL, data modeling, and performance tuning. 
• Expertise in SQL warehousing and using modeling methodologies such as Kimball. 
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server, SSAS, and SSRS. 
• Experience with data migration and transformation in enterprise environments. 
• Familiarity with Power BI and data visualization techniques. 
• Ability to define business logic within the context of the data model. 
• Comfortable working with cloud-based data platforms (e.g. Databricks). 

• Experience with automation and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Octopus) and trunk-based development. 
• Exposure to loyalty or customer rewards systems. 
• Industry experience in retail or restaurant analytics. 

• Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex data issues effectively.
• Proven ability to communicate clearly in English and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Dedication to delivering high-quality, accurate, and reliable data product solutions.
• Willingness to embrace new tools, technologies, and methodologies, with a proactive and innovative approach to overcoming challenges.
