Job Title Public Relations Student Assistant Agency Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Service Department Marketing and Communications Proposed Minimum Salary $10.00 hourly Job Location College Station, Texas Job Type Student Worker The Public Relations Student Worker, under general supervision, will be given an inside look at the multi-faceted world of communications and provide concrete, transferable skills that you can take with you into the future. Your day-to-day activities will vary but typically will include writing, researching media and media opportunities, accessing social media, and working collaboratively with team members on a wide range of projects. The student worker will be involved with projects including marketing, news and media to extend Texas A&M AgriLife's brand, story and public relations efforts. Responsibilities: - Implement use of an editorial style guide.
- Create and manage media lists, and utilize distribution platform(s).
- Help draft materials like media pitches, press releases, media advisories, etc.
- Assist in upkeep and updating of content distribution platform.
- Media monitoring for industry trends and seasonal topics.
- Write content for AgriLife Today, as appropriate.
- Assist with social media, as appropriate.
- Contributes to weekly reporting of interviews, pitches and coverage for leadership.
- Offer ideas and suggestions of timely content.
- Draft and preliminary buildouts of media kits.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: - Pursuing Bachelor's degree in applicable field; Communications, Digital Media, Journalism, Marketing, Media, Public Relations.
- Highly collaborative, team player.
- Strong writing skills.
- Knowledge of social media.
- Ability to engage on media relations projects.
