Salary Range: $55,000 – $70,000
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Position Summary
Under the direction of the CFO, the Staff Accountant provides technical accounting, budgeting, and administrative support. The role is responsible for managing and analyzing financial transactions for wellness programs and grants, ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Track revenues and expenditures by funding source; reconcile transactions.
- Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll and payroll reports.
- Manage accounts payable and process invoices for payment.
- Manage accounts receivable.
- Verify and post details of business transactions, disbursements and receipts.
- Assist in preparation and monitoring of the annual budget and the annual audit.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements, including variance reports.
- Prepare grant reimbursement requests, track due dates, and submit financial reports to grantors.
- Prepare purchase orders in conjunction with grant allocations and requested purchasing requisitions.
- Maintain accounting files, electronic and standard.
- Coordinate billing for services reimbursed by Medicaid, CHIP, Medicare, and private insurers.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly cost allocations.
- Assist with the implementation of multiple accounting and payroll software programs and processes.
- Crosstrain in other administrative areas and provide backup support.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Four years of progressive accounting experience, with at least two directly related to grant accounting and/or non-profit accounting.
- Minimum associate’s degree, but strong preference for bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Preference given to familiarity with FQHCs or medical clinic operations and healthcare billing (Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Advanced Excel & Word).
- Experience with accounting software: Sage Intacct, ADP Payroll, QuickBooks (preferred).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain confidentiality.
- Valid Texas driver’s license and proof of liability insurance.
Work Schedule & Physical Requirements
- Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (40 hrs/week); occasional evenings/weekends.
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs, climb stairs, and perform duties in an office/clinic setting.
- Must demonstrate flexibility, dependability, and commitment to continuous learning.
Salary Description
$55,000 - $70,000 per year
