SKILLED LABORER (PUBLIC WORKS / CONSTRUCTION SUPPORT)

We are seeking a Skilled Laborer to perform more advanced manual tasks in support of public works, construction, or maintenance projects. This position is ideal for individuals with basic construction or grounds maintenance experience, who can operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Note: The following duties are illustrative and not exhaustive. Other related duties may be assigned based on departmental needs.

• Perform skilled manual labor including concrete work, asphalt repair, landscaping, and other construction or maintenance tasks.
• Operate hand tools, small machinery, and basic power equipment (mowers, trimmers, drills, saws) safely and efficiently.
• Assist in preparing and setting up project sites, including measuring, marking, and leveling work areas.
• Load, unload, and transport materials and equipment to job sites.
• Support team members and work under limited supervision to complete assigned tasks on schedule.
• Follow all safety guidelines and report unsafe conditions or incidents immediately.
• Perform routine maintenance of tools and equipment to ensure safe operation.
• Assist in maintaining clean and organized work areas and storage spaces.
• Complete documentation or logs of work performed as directed by supervisors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience in construction, landscaping, or public works preferred.
• Ability to operate hand and small power tools safely.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials up to 75 lbs and work in varying outdoor conditions.
• Reliable attendance, strong work ethic, and ability to follow directions.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Primarily outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions.
• Exposure to construction or maintenance environments including noise, dust, and uneven terrain.
• Physical activity required: standing, walking, bending, lifting, and handling materials.
