Preparation Technician

Pay: Starting at $18.00 per hour

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Preparation Technician to support production operations by preparing surfaces for painting and finishing. This role is responsible for ensuring surfaces are properly cleaned, prepped, and ready for coating to meet quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate takes pride in producing high-quality finishes and maintaining a safe, organized work environment.

**Key Responsibilities:

**

• Inspect surfaces for imperfections, contaminants, or irregularities

• Clean and prepare surfaces using solvents, sanding tools, sandblasting, and power washing equipment

• Mask and tape off areas to protect surfaces from overspray

• Mix and handle paint materials according to specificationsSet up and maintain painting and preparation equipment

• Inspect finished products to ensure quality and appearance standards are met

• Correct defects or imperfections as neededPerform routine maintenance on preparation and painting equipment

• Maintain inventory of sanding, washing, and painting supplies

• Move products to drying areas and stage items for further processing or packaging

• Operate forklifts, cranes, and other heavy equipment (certification required)

• Apply seam sealers as neededKeep the work area and paint booth clean and orderly

• Follow all safety procedures when handling paints, solvents, and chemicals

• Wear required PPE at all timesPerform other duties as assigned

**Qualifications:

**

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Experience in manufacturing, painting, or surface preparation preferred

• Familiarity with sanding, blasting, and paint preparation techniques

• Strong attention to detail and quality standards

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Knowledge of safety procedures in a painting or industrial environment

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent use of hands and tools

• Regular standing, walking, and reaching

• Must be able to safely operate a forklift and maintain required certifications
