We are looking for a Principal Chemist for our New Product Development (NPD) - New Chemistry Team in Sugar Land, TX . The Principal Chemist will support strategic and transformational innovation projects for Production Chemical Technologies.

What You Will Do:
  • Adopt, maintain and promote our safety standards, while identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Conduct theoretical or applied scientific research aimed at advancing technical knowledge and/or solving complex problems related to production, reservoir and/or midstream
  • Lead and execute strategic and transformation innovation projects with possible global reach and high impact on the business.
  • Develop novel chemistries/formulations to meet customer needs
  • Develop new testing and/or dispensing methods.
  • Analyze research data and prepare detailed reports and presentations
  • Drive the continuous improvement of our business to responsibly deliver energy.
  • Work effectively in a team environment with cross-functional members.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Degree in Chemistry or related technical field: PhD or M.S. with 2+ years of experience, or B.S. with 4+ years of experience.
  • Experience in synthetic chemistry (small molecules or polymers) and advanced characteristic techniques
  • Deep understanding of structure property relationships and how to apply them to solve practical problems
  • Proven capability in developing innovative solutions, including but not limited to product formulation and development.
  • Ability to work with business counterparts to support our customers and new technology adoption.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret incomplete information.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to connect and interact with customers to clearly identify their needs and translate those needs into solutions.
  • Experience in transitioning product development from laboratory scale to pilot and production scale
  • Experience in formal Design of Experiments and/or Data Analytics is a plus
  • Detail oriented and excellent time management skills
  • Excellent written, oral, and visual communication skills to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, both within and outside the business
