Job Responsibilities
- Analyze project specifications, drawings, and blueprints to determine material and labor requirements.
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for sheet metal projects.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to gather essential project details and requirements.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
- Review and interpret bid documents, contracts, and proposals to ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Conduct site visits when necessary to evaluate project scope and verify field conditions.
- Prepare and submit bid proposals, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Track and manage multiple estimates and project deadlines concurrently.
- Update and maintain estimating databases and software with current material and labor costs.
- Participate in project handoff meetings to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to manufacturing or installation.
- Provide technical support and clarification during the project execution phase.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations in all estimating practices.
- Generate reports and summaries for management review and strategic planning.
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in sheet metal estimating or related field.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes, materials, and standards.
- Familiarity with estimating software such as QuoteSoft, Autodesk, and SMEP.
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
- Ability to prepare detailed cost estimates, including labor, materials, and project duration.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Valid driver’s license for site visits and customer meetings (if applicable).
- Associate's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred.
