Location: Houston, TX 77040 (Onsite for training, potential remote based on performance)

About Our Client:
Our client is a healthcare organization expanding its team due to internal growth and the addition of a new facility. They are seeking Patient Account Specialists to join their business office team in Houston. This role offers direct hire stability, career growth opportunities, and a path to remote work after successful completion of training.
Job Description:
The Patient Account Specialist will be responsible for supporting the patient billing cycle, ensuring accuracy in account management, and resolving outstanding balances. This is a great opportunity for someone with facility billing experience who is reliable, detail-oriented, and tech savvy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain confidentiality of patient records and billing information
- Answer incoming billing office calls and assist with claim review requests
- Contact patients with outstanding balances to arrange payment or resolve disputes
- Resolve unpaid or denied claims and file appeals as necessary
- Accurately process and post patient payments daily
- Research and process refund requests within compliance regulations
- Collaborate with team members to resolve account discrepancies
- Interpret policies and procedures for patients, families, and internal staff
- Provide support to the account recovery team as needed
- Perform additional related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of patient account or self-pay experience
- Prior facility experience required
- Experience handling and interpreting remits/EOBs
- Strong communication skills, detail-oriented, and reliable
- Tech savvy, with the ability to work across multiple systems
Additional Details:
- Training: Fully onsite for about 90 days depending on performance; potential to transition fully remote after successful training
- Hours: Flexible start times between 6:30 AM and 5:30 PM (Monday–Friday)
- Interview Process: Virtual interview with hiring managers
- Start Date: 2 weeks after offer acceptance
- Dress Code: Business casual
