PSM Coordinator (Process Safety Management)

Position Summary:
The PSM Coordinator is responsible for implementing and coordinating all elements of Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plans (RMP), ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining the integrity of the ammonia system. This role provides technical guidance, training, and oversight to plant teams while promoting a strong process safety culture across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement PSM and RMP programs, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Provide direction to PSM teams and support plants in developing and sustaining facility-specific policies, procedures, programs, and training.
- Conduct routine meetings with designated refrigeration personnel and participate in audits and inspections.
- Implement corporate programs that drive consistency and align with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain knowledge of PSM (14 elements), RMP, and applicable rules; deliver technical PSM training as needed.
- Coordinate and participate in management of change (MOC), pre-startup safety reviews (PSSR), and process hazard analysis (PHA) activities.
- Assist in creating, updating, and training on operating procedures; maintain the training matrix for compliance.
- Promote a process safety culture and drive improvements in PSM/RMP programs.
- Support OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory audits of refrigeration systems.
- Coordinate data collection, reporting, and tracking of process safety key performance indicators.
- Provide technical direction for refrigeration and cooling projects, prioritizing programs to meet compliance, risk analysis, and corporate policies.
- Manage electronic documentation using SharePoint and electronic PSM management tools (APSM).
- Perform other duties as assigned and report any environmental or safety incidents in accordance with company protocols.
Education / Experience:
- Associate’s degree in a technical field required.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience leading and coordinating PSM and RMP activities.
- Knowledge of PSM standards and RMP regulations, with ability to lead associated activities at the facility and asset level.
- Formal training in facilitating HAZOP and What-if/Checklist PHAs (or willingness to complete training).
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business, technical, and governmental documents.
- Strong report writing and documentation skills.
- Effective presentation and communication skills for diverse audiences, including managers, clients, and employees.
- Ability to perform calculations involving discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, volume, and other measurements relevant to operations.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business, technical, and governmental documents.
