CATALOGER (ENTRY LEVEL – LIBRARY / RECORDS SERVICES)

We are currently seeking an Entry-Level Cataloger. This position is ideal for an organized, detail-oriented individual who enjoys maintaining order, working with data and materials, and supporting community access to information and resources.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Note: The following duties are illustrative and not exhaustive. Other related duties may be assigned based on departmental needs.
- Process and catalog new materials, including books, periodicals, and digital media, according to established procedures.
- Assign basic classification or call numbers and maintain catalog records to ensure accurate retrieval of materials.
- Assist with data entry and updates in the library or records management system.
- Help maintain organized shelves and archives by properly labeling and shelving materials.
- Support routine inventory checks and assist with the withdrawal or repair of damaged or outdated materials.
- Provide assistance to patrons or staff in locating materials or information as needed.
- Follow established cataloging, recordkeeping, and confidentiality standards.
- Maintain a neat and organized work area and ensure materials are properly tracked and accounted for.
- Perform related clerical or administrative duties in support of department operations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or GED required; some college coursework in library science, information management, or related field preferred.
- Previous clerical, library, or office experience helpful, but training will be provided .
- Basic computer literacy with the ability to learn cataloging and records systems.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and manage repetitive or detailed tasks accurately.
- Reliable attendance and commitment to quality and accuracy in daily work.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Primarily indoor setting in an office or library environment.
- May require light physical activity such as lifting boxes (up to 30 lbs), reaching, or shelving materials.
- Standard work hours with potential for occasional evening or weekend assignments based on operational needs.
