Job Type: Full- Time
Shift: 9:00am-5:00pm (5 days a week; off Every Tuesday and Wednesday )
Base rate pay: $14.00-$15.50 per hour

The Culinary Aide in a Skilled Nursing Facility is responsible for assisting in the preparation, service, and delivery of meals to residents, ensuring that all food safety and sanitation guidelines are followed. The Culinary Aide works under the supervision of the dietary staff and supports the kitchen team in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment. This role directly contributes to the overall satisfaction of residents by providing nutritious and appetizing meals in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:
Meal Preparation Support:
Assist in the preparation of food items including salads, vegetables, desserts, and other menu items as directed.
Follow dietary instructions and resident meal preferences, ensuring special dietary needs (e.g., low-sodium, gluten-free) are met.
Portion, assemble, and prepare food for meal service based on established dietary plans.
Meal Service:
Serve meals to residents in a timely and courteous manner.
Ensure that meals are presented attractively and served at the proper temperature.
Set up, clear, and clean dining areas before, during, and after meal services.
Food Safety & Sanitation:
Adhere to all food safety regulations, including proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices.
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas, following all health and safety codes.
Assist with cleaning kitchen equipment, utensils, and dining areas, including dishwashing and garbage disposal.
Resident Interaction:
Communicate effectively with residents, ensuring meal preferences, needs, and dietary restrictions are understood and respected.
Report any changes in a resident's dietary needs or health status to the dietary supervisor or nursing staff.
Team Collaboration:
Work with other kitchen staff and dietary team members to ensure the smooth flow of meal preparation and service.
Assist with inventory and stock rotation, ensuring all supplies are properly labeled and stored.

Work Environment
This job operates in a post-acute setting. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the facility. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. Team member is expected to adhere to facility’s no-smoking policy.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 60 pounds.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a position in a post-acute setting that is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Weekend and holiday shifts will be required.

HIPAA
Team members are required to adhere to policies and procedures implementing HIPAA requirements for the privacy and security of protected health information. Team member are permitted to use and/or disclose only minimum amount of Protected Health Information necessary to complete assigned tasks. Reports all suspected violation of company’s HIPAA policies or procedures to facility CEO.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external costumers at all levels of the organization
Basic computer and Microsoft Application skills. Must have an ability to learn new systems
Ability to work with a culturally diverse population
Must have positive communication skills and demonstrated adequate maturity and patience
Proficient in the English language. Good communication (verbal and written), customer service and interpersonal skill
Must have good organizational skills with attention to detail
Must be able to successfully prioritize workload, demonstrate initiative, and analyze situations to make sound decisions
Must show initiative and take action on observed needs
Self-directing with the ability to work with minimal direct supervision
Knowledgeable of kitchen equipment, good knife skills, and posses a full took kit
Knowledgeable of weights and measures, as well as basic math apllications
Must be able to assist, train and direct culinary interns and prep cooks in daily tasks
Required Education/Experience
High School Diploma or Equivalent
A minimum of one (1) year experience in a culinary role
