Outside Sales Representative

We are seeking a New Business Development Sales Representative to help drive the next chapter of our growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sales, excellent communication skills, and an understanding of the landscaping or green industry. This role requires a motivated professional who can identify new business opportunities, build lasting client relationships, and contribute to the continued success of our company.

Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Lead Generation
  • Prospecting: Identify and target potential clients, including commercial property managers, HOAs, municipalities, schools/universities, hospitals, developers, and high-end residential owners who require landscaping installation or maintenance services.
  • Lead Qualification: Generate, qualify, and convert leads into long-term business opportunities by understanding client needs and presenting tailored solutions.
  • Market Research: Stay informed on emerging landscaping trends, client demands, and regional growth opportunities.
  • Networking: Attend community events, industry conferences, and trade shows to connect with decision-makers and influencers.
Sales & Client Relationship Management
  • Client Outreach: Conduct outbound calls, schedule meetings, and deliver proposals to prospective and existing clients.
  • Account Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction, loyalty, and repeat business.
  • Solution Selling: Collaborate with estimators and project managers to craft customized landscaping proposals that meet client needs, budgets, and timelines.
  • Contract Negotiation: Prepare and present bids, negotiate contracts, and close deals.
  • Project Follow-Through: Ensure smooth hand-off from sales to operations, monitoring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
Sales Targets & Reporting
  • Sales Goals: Consistently meet or exceed individual sales targets and company growth objectives.
  • CRM Management: Maintain accurate records of client interactions, proposals, and pipeline activity using CRM software.
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates to leadership on sales performance, client feedback, and market trends.
Collaboration & Teamwork
  • Internal Coordination: Partner with estimators, project managers, and operations teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Marketing Collaboration: Work with the marketing team to develop and distribute promotional materials and proposals.
  • Client Education: Position HLS Landscape as a trusted advisor by educating clients on the value of sustainable, high-quality landscaping solutions.
Industry Knowledge & Professional Development
  • Service Knowledge: Stay up to date on HLS Landscape’s service offerings, including commercial maintenance, irrigation, hardscaping, and seasonal enhancements.
  • Competitive Landscape: Monitor competitors’ offerings and market activity to ensure HLS Landscape maintains its industry leadership.
  • Professional Growth: Pursue ongoing development through workshops, certifications, and training in sales and landscaping best practices.
Qualifications
Essential Skills
  • Sales Experience: 3+ years in sales and business development, ideally in landscaping, construction, property management or related services.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with landscaping services, horticulture practices, irrigation, or grounds management.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication with the ability to deliver persuasive presentations.
  • Negotiation Skills: Proven ability to close deals and negotiate effectively.
  • CRM Proficiency: Experience managing pipelines and client data in CRM software.
  • Customer Focused: Strong relationship-building skills and a client-first mindset.
Desirable Skills
  • Established network within property management, HOA boards, municipal, or commercial real estate sectors.
  • Understanding of landscaping project management, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Technical acumen to discuss horticultural, irrigation, or design elements with clients and internal teams.
Other Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites and industry events.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
