Key Responsibilities:
- Installation: Install HVAC systems, including air conditioning units, heating systems and ventilation systems, ensuring they are set up according to specifications and safety standards.
- Maintenance: Perform regular preventive maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity. This includes cleaning ducts, changing filters, and checking for leaks.
- Repair: Diagnose and repair malfunctions in HVAC systems, including troubleshooting issues and replacing defective parts as needed.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by explaining repairs and maintenance procedures to clients, ensuring they understand the work performed and any necessary follow-up.
- Documentation: Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed including the type and cost of services provided.
Qualifications:
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required. Additional training or certification in HVAC technology is preferred.
- Experience: Proven experience as an HVAC technician is often required, with a strong understanding of HVAC systems and components.
- Certifications: EPA Universal Certification is commonly required to handle refrigerants and other hazardous materials.
- Skills: Strong problems-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a solid understanding of electrical and mechanical systems related to HVAC equipment.
Working Conditions:
- HVAC technicians may work in various environments, including commercial buildings, and industrial facilities.
- The job may require physical labor, including lifting heavy equipment and working in confined spaces.
- Technicians often respond to emergency calls and may need to work evenings or weekends.
