Director of Financial Reporting

Overview:: As a leader in deepwater drilling, Diamond Offshore provides contract drilling services and fresh perspectives to anticipating and solving deepwater challenges globally. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, the Company also maintains primary regional offices in Australia, Singapore, Brazil, and Scotland, with local offices in other countries as required to support operations. Responsibilities:: The Director - Financial Reporting will report directly to the Controller and will be responsible for ensuring an adequate level of financial reporting controls exist so the financial operations of Diamond can be relied upon, in addition to determining if policy and procedures are being followed to ensure the integrity of the financial statements and for overseeing external audits performed at locations of Diamond worldwide. Responsibilities The Director - Financial Reporting may: - Oversee the preparation and timely filing of all SEC compliance documents, including Form 10-Qs and Form 10-Ks.
- Prepare critical sections within SEC filings, including Form 10-Qs and Form 10-Ks, as required to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain disclosure support for all SEC filings, guaranteeing consistency and transparency.
- Oversee the preparation of statutory financial statements for various legal entities within the company, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Prepare various monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements, extending beyond SEC filings, to meet diverse reporting requirements.
- Lead the coordination efforts for quarterly earnings press releases, collaborating closely with executive management and investor relations to convey key financial information effectively.
- Participate in due diligence activities when required.
- Stay abreast of all updates and requirements within the realm of SEC reporting, and proactively manage the implementation and adoption of new regulatory standards.
- Conduct thorough research on accounting and reporting issues as needed, offering informed recommendations to address complex challenges.
- Perform reviews of new contracts to ensure strict adherence to revenue recognition accounting standards under ASC 606, while simultaneously offering strategic recommendations to optimize the overall revenue recognition processes.
- Participate fully in all Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives and safety programs.
- Follow Diamond Offshore Global Excellence Management System (G.E.M.S.)
- Perform special projects and other duties as required.
Qualifications:: Basic Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited university.
- CPA certification.
- Minimum 10-12 years of experience with a mix of public accounting and industry experience.
- Financial reporting experience in private and publicly traded companies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Detail-oriented, with a commitment to accuracy and meeting tight deadlines.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications - Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Big 4 accounting experience.
- Offshore drilling industry experience.
- Oracle general ledger and One Stream experience.
- Experience with Active Disclosure SEC filing platform.
- Reporting experience with a publicly traded company.
- IFRS
