About the Position

Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin is seeking a highly experienced CVOR Registered Nurse for a long-term assignment within a high-volume cardiovascular surgical service line. The ideal candidate must demonstrate advanced circulating experience across complex cardiac, thoracic, and vascular procedures and be able to work independently in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Circulate cardiovascular, thoracic, and vascular surgical procedures
• Maintain sterile surgical environments and ensure patient safety
• Assist surgical teams during high-acuity procedures
• Prepare OR suites, instruments, and specialty equipment
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia teams, perfusionists, and surgical staff
• Provide accurate perioperative documentation
• Respond effectively in emergency and critical surgical situations

Surgical Case Experience Required

Candidates must have demonstrated proficiency in:

Cardiac Procedures

• Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
• Valve repair/replacement
• Aortic dissection repair
• Heart transplantation
• Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) placement
• Impella and intra-aortic balloon pump procedures
• Adult ECMO
• TAVR procedures

Thoracic Procedures

• Open thoracic surgery
• Laparoscopic thoracic procedures
• Robotic-assisted thoracic surgery

Vascular Procedures

• ESRD graft/fistula placement and revisions
• Endovascular procedures
• Endovascular OR procedures

Unit Highlights

• 4–6 Operating Rooms within the CVOR service line
• Dedicated endovascular suite
• Capability to perform four concurrent cardiopulmonary bypass procedures
• High-acuity, fast-paced surgical environment

Additional Information

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years recent full-time CVOR circulator experience
• Experience in a high-volume hospital setting required
• Ability to independently manage complex CVOR cases
• Strong proficiency across cardiac, thoracic, and vascular procedures
• Must provide verifiable references from at least two prior travel assignments confirming independent practice with no additional training required

Schedule & Call Requirements

• Shift: 10:30 AM – 11:00 PM
• Schedule: 4 weekday shifts based on department needs
• Weekly Hours: 48 hours/week
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• On-Call Requirement: Yes, including after-hours and weekend coverage
