HVAC Test Stand Technician (PM Shift)

Location: North Houston Area.
Pay: $30.00–$35.00 per hour (based on experience).
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 2:45 PM – 3:45 AM.
Employment Type: Full-Time | Temp-to-Hire.
Pay Frequency: Weekly.

Position Overview:
Openwork is hiring a skilled HVAC Test Stand Technician to support a respected organization in North Houston. This role is ideal for experienced HVAC professionals who enjoy hands-on troubleshooting, system testing, and working in a technical, team-driven environment.

In this position, you will evaluate HVAC systems in a controlled setting to ensure performance, reliability, and safety standards are met. Your work will play a key role in product quality and system validation.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and evaluate HVAC equipment using blueprints, schematics, and diagnostic tools.
  • Set up and configure test stands and HVAC testing systems based on engineering specifications.
  • Operate specialized testing equipment to measure system performance.
  • Troubleshoot system issues and identify performance inconsistencies.
  • Document test results, observations, and performance data accurately.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to review findings.
  • Assist with building or modifying testing setups as required.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration on testing equipment.
  • Support safety initiatives, quality standards, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Demonstrate testing procedures or equipment functionality during customer visits when needed.

Qualifications:

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of 2+ years of commercial HVAC experience required.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills in HVAC systems.
  • Mechanical aptitude with experience using hand and power tools.
  • Experience using testing and diagnostic equipment (gauges, thermometers, pressure tools).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced technical environment.

Education and Certifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • HVAC vocational training or trade school strongly preferred.
  • EPA Certification preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift.
  • Comfortable working around HVAC systems and mechanical equipment.
