National Sales Manager

The National Sales Manager, in collaboration with the Senior Director of Sales, is responsible for building strong customer and stakeholder relationships, driving revenue growth, converting leads, and ensuring overall customer satisfaction. This role works collaboratively with the Sales leadership team and cross-functional partners to support strategic initiatives and ensure alignment with broader business objectives. This position is expected to exercise sound discretion and independent judgment in the performance of the essential job duties.

Key Contributions of the Role

Business Development & Revenue Growth – 60%

  • Strategically plan and execute the sales process through discovery, consultation, and engagements with support from the Senior Director.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director to implement and follow a plan to solicit new business.
  • Maintain current knowledge about industry developments, competitors, and market trends to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Grow booked business by 10% on an annual basis.
  • Cultivate relationships and secure business with event organizers of trade shows, conventions, and corporate meetings.
  • Target business with a value of five-hundred thousand dollars or greater.
  • Achieve and maintain annual sales revenue of four million or greater, as well as meet annual sales goals at acceptable profitability targets.
  • Represent Shepard at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to promote brand awareness and generate leads.
  • Collaborate with Sales leadership to develop and deliver professional proposals and presentations on behalf of Shepard.

Client Management & Consultative Sales – 30%

  • Actively engage and clearly communicate with customers year-round to ensure Shepard’s consultative sales approach and service standards.
  • Collaborate closely with internal partners, including Account Executives and Operations leads, to support planning, pre-show activities, and on-site execution.

Sales Reporting, CRM Management & Administrative Work – 10%

  • Maintain all required sales reporting and performance benchmarks, including accurate and timely updates in Salesforce.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6+ years of sales experience.
  • Minimum of 6+ years of industry experience.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Self-motivated with a strong drive to achieve and exceed goals.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement effective sales strategies.
  • Possess strong business and financial acumen.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems such as Salesforce.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; relevant experience may be substituted for formal education.
