El Paso Children's Hospital is a cutting-edge facility dedicated exclusively to pediatric healthcare. The facility features 122 hospital beds and a dedicated 13-bed emergency department (10 private rooms, including 1 resuscitation room and 2 isolation rooms).

Emergency Department Overview

• Annual ED volume: 27,000 patients, with an average of 1.73 patients per hour
• 11% admission rate
• Medium acuity level
• Equipped with a helipad for emergency transport
• EMR system: Cerner
• Codes: part of the code team; physicians are expected to respond to codes anywhere in the hospital unless a critical patient requires immediate attention
• Nearest trauma center: University Medical Center
• Credentialing time: approximately 90 days

Staffing Details

• 24-hour physician coverage in the ED
• Advanced practice clinician coverage: 12-24 hours daily based on seasonal needs; winter months: 24 hours of APC coverage

• Fellowship-trained in PEM
