The Code Blue Operations department at MD Anderson Cancer Center is dedicated to providing rapid, high-quality emergency medical response across the institution's public spaces. The Public Space Code Blue Team serves as the primary emergency response team for patients, visitors, employees, and guests throughout MD Anderson's campus, responding to medical emergencies outside of inpatient and outpatient clinical areas while providing critical support to hospital-based Code Blue teams when needed. This highly specialized team plays an essential role in ensuring the safety of everyone on campus through expert emergency care and rapid intervention.
This Per Diem Paramedic position offers the opportunity to provide advanced pre-hospital emergency care in one of the nation's leading cancer centers. The role is ideal for an experienced paramedic who thrives in fast-paced, high-acuity environments, is confident making critical decisions under pressure, and is passionate about delivering exceptional emergency medical care as part of a highly collaborative response team.
In this role, you will respond to medical emergencies and Code Blue activations throughout designated public areas of the MD Anderson campus while supporting inpatient and outpatient Code Blue teams as requested. Working under established protocols approved by the Code Blue Medical Director, you will provide rapid assessment, stabilization, and advanced life support interventions during emergency situations involving patients, visitors, and employees.
You will utilize a broad range of advanced paramedic skills, including cardiac monitoring and defibrillation, airway management and endotracheal intubation, intravenous and intraosseous access, oxygen administration, aerosol therapy, patient immobilization, and other advanced life support procedures. You will also assist with safely lifting, transporting, and transferring patients to ambulances or appropriate medical facilities while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and clinical care.

You will work alongside multidisciplinary emergency response teams in dynamic situations where professionalism, sound clinical judgment, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential. Qualified candidates should have at least two years of experience as a Paramedic, successful completion of a Texas Department of State Health Services-approved Paramedic training program (or a bachelor's degree as outlined in the position requirements), and current Texas Licensed Paramedic, BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications. Experience in high-volume EMS, emergency response, or critical care environments is highly desirable.

EDUCATION
Required: Training Program Successful completion of a Texas Department of State Human Services (DSHS) approved EMT-Paramedic training course or Bachelor's Degree
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required: 2 years Experience as a Paramedic.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Required: BLS - Basic Life Support Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support American Heart Association, LP - Licensed Paramedic Texas Paramedic License issued by the Texas Department of State of Health Services and PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support American Heart Association.
