About the Position
We are seeking an experienced Travel Registered Nurse (RN) for a Medical-Surgical Orthopedic unit. The RN will provide direct patient care to adult medical-surgical patients with orthopedic conditions in a fast-paced hospital setting. This role requires strong clinical judgment, prior travel experience, and the ability to work night shifts independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to med/surg orthopedic patients
- Monitor patient conditions and administer medications/treatments
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams
- Document patient care accurately in EPIC system
- Manage patient assignments (approx. 1:6 ratio)
- Float to units of equal or lower acuity when required
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years recent Medical-Surgical nursing experience
- Prior travel RN experience required
- Active RN license (Texas or compact license)
- BLS certification required
- NIHSS preferred
- ACLS preferred
- Must be comfortable with night shifts and floating
Additional Notes
- First-time travelers are not eligible
- No local travelers from restricted Texas counties (Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, Morris)
