Project Overview:

Port Arthur LNG, LLC (PALNG) is developing a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production and export facility on a site located on the western shoreline of the Port Arthur Canal in Jeferson County, Texas. The project base scope will include two (2) identical LNG trains, two (2) LNG Storage Tanks, one (1) LNG Carrier Berth, and associated utilities/facilities. The Project is to be constructed on a parcel of land located along State Highway 87 south of Port Arthur, Texas, between the inner coastal waterway bridge and Keith Lake. The Infrastructure Global Business Unit (GBU) is executing site civil and marine scopes of work associated with our scopes of work on the Energy GBU LNG projects. As the #1 LNG EPC contractor by installed capacity, Bechtel has the capability to successfully deliver a broad range of LNG projects through our integrated EPC self-perform model, strategic partnerships, and proven experience in LNG project delivery. Partnering with Bechtel means lower cost,shorter delivery schedules, and greater certainty of outcomes for our customers. The Infrastructure Global Business Unit (GBU) is executing site civil and marine scopes of work associated with our scopes of work on the Energy LNG projects.

 

Job Summary:

The Site Piling Field Engineer is responsible for providing technical assistance, direction, and support to Bechtel and subcontractor field supervision for construction and installation activities for all disciplines associated with specified area equipment and materials. Coordinate & track ongoing maintenance of pile driving equipment, expedite parts and repairs, coordinate pile delivery to work fronts & monitor daily productivity. #LI-SP1

 

Major Responsibilities :

  • Monitors and organizes subcontractor activities, through coordination and instruction of subcontractor’s management staff within the area of responsibility.
  • Role supports projects of moderate complexity and few stakeholders involved.

Planning/Productivity:

  • Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
  • Develops planning construction methods and procedures.
  • Develops projections and schedules for workforce, material, and equipment requirements.
  • Reviews installation work packages to foreman and general foreman.
  • Participates in the review of project controls documents on progress relating to cost and schedule.
  • Participates in the development of level 4 and level 5 project schedules.
  • Reports and reviews installed quantities to Field Engineering for verification and quantity claiming.
  • Prepares reports and forecasts, as required, and keeps supervisors informed on progress of overall assigned activities.
  • Works with superintendents in the preparation of construction methods, schedules, staffing charts, and material and equipment requirements.
  • Monitors subcontractor construction schedules, resource charts, and material and equipment requirements.
  • Reviews subcontractor construction methods, schedules, staffing charts, and material and equipment requirements.
  • Participates in the coordination of construction operations impact on external interfaces to ensure they coincide with the overall established schedules.
  • Participates with other subcontractors and external stakeholders (or subcontractors) to plan construction schedules.
  • Ensures work methods planned and executed safely.
  • Proactively involved in continuous learning or shows interest to pursue appropriate learning activities.

Safety/Quality:

  • Monitors installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings, specifications, vendor, and other requirements.
  • Implements and enforces policies, procedures and related work rules as established by field construction management.
  • Ensures Zero Accident Philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
  • Implements core understanding of ES&H CPs.

Technical:

  • Works with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.
  • Coordinates engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals.
  • Coordinates with Design on constructability issues.
  • Prepares testing processes and required test equipment.
  • Inspects installed components for technical acceptance.
  • Develops Commodity Installation means and methods.
  • Develops an understanding of industry and International Codes & Standards applicable to work scope.
  • Utilizes and leverages applicable automation software and processes as applicable. 

 

  Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience on an LNG construction site especially along the U.S. Gulf Coast.
  • Experience in oil, gas, refinery, petrochemical, minerals processing or power generating station construction is preferred.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving ability.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead teams.
  • Maintain, promote, and cultivate a safe work ethic and work environment within the craft.
  • Able to work extended work schedules and night shift as required to support the project execution plans and schedules.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H).
  • Demonstrable commitment to a Zero Accident safety program.
  • Must have work authorization within the United States of America.
