Administrative Secretary

Provides administrative and clerical support to the Administration divisions within the Port Arthur Fire Department. This position assists with routine fire department administrative functions and recordkeeping while performing entry-level tasks associated with the Fire Department. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED :
- Receives general supervision from the Deputy Fire Chief and Fire Chief.
- making observations
- reading and writing
- operating assigned equipment
- communicating with others.
- performing mathematical and statistical computations
- making sound decisions
- demonstrating intellectual capabilities.
- walking, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time
- climbing stairs
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Training : High school diploma or equivalent required. An associate’s degree or coursework in public administration, or a related field is preferred. Experience: Two (2) years of administrative or clerical experience, preferably in a municipal government or Fire-related field. Licensure or Certification : Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Texas driver’s license by the time of hire. Administrative Secretary – Fire Department, #25-049R.
