Millwright Project Engineer

Industry leader seeking an additional Plant Engineer to join the team! If you have project management and strong mechanical experience implementing new manufacturing equipment, plant expansions, retrofits and other efficiency improvements, we'd love to hear from you! Prior hands-on experience with auxiliary systems - including chillers, dryers, air compressors, vacuum pumps, and cooling towers - is highly desired. It's a stable company that has been in business for over 55 years and has expanded 15 new plants in the past 10 years.

**Required: must be able to meet travel expectations of up to 75% domestic. **Therefore, sponsorship is unavailable for the position and candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. Relocation assistance is available - Columbus, OH is ideal but may be suitable for other locations that are close to an international airport and ideally close to one of the manufacturing plants for which there are over 50 in the USA.

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity - not a contract role.

Responsibilities

The Plant Engineer is responsible for planning, budgeting and executing a variety of manufacturing equipment projects across domestic locations. The Plant Engineer acts as the project manager for the implementation projects ranging from plant expansions, production line installations, plant retrofits and efficiency improvement projects. This role will require proficiency in engineering moderately complex plant layouts, adapting existing equipment designs, and training plant employees. Additionally, organizing and leading small teams is central to this role. Plant Service Group engineers are the liaison between Engineering and Manufacturing. Domestic travel is often closer to 75%.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Provide leadership and support for equipment and infrastructure installations

Implement PM Programs

Routinely provide hands-on equipment and process troubleshooting & training

Perform AutoCAD drawings and functions while maintaining mechanical and electrical drawing files

Identify root causes of downtime, scrap and rate restrictions and partner with Engineering and Plant resources to resolve the challenges

Support Engineering on R & D of new equipment and processes

Project Budgeting and Equipment Purchases

Job Skills:

This position should possess the following skills/knowledge:

Plastic extrusion or injection mold experience preferred

Ability to work within a Team environment

Strong project management skills

Strong verbal and written communications

Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting aptitude

Proficient in AutoCAD

Work autonomously and with minimal supervision

Educational Requirements:

Prefer minimum 2-yr Associates Degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Plastics Engineering, or equivalent. There is a heavy mechanical focus.

Minimum 2 years’ Experience in Project Management.

Preferred Experience:

3 years in a manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements:

Work safely in and around plant equipment

Work within the plant climate conditions

Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods of time in temperature extremes

Position requires full range of body motion including twisting, bending, reaching, squatting and ability to mount/dismount industrial equipment and vehicles

Ability to stand and be mobile for a minimum of 8 continuous hours
