Service Captain

Lakewood Country Club is seeking a service-focused Captain to oversee daily operations in our Grill Dining Room. This leadership position is ideal for an experienced hospitality professional who thrives on delivering exceptional member experiences, maintaining high service standards, and leading by example on the floor.
As Lakewood Country Club prepares for the reopening of our newly renovated golf course designed by renowned architect Andrew Green, this is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team and help shape the next chapter of one of Dallas' premier private clubs.

Located in the heart of Dallas, Lakewood Country Club is a private, Member-owned club serving approximately 1,100 members and their families. The Club offers a unique balance of family-oriented dining and golf-centered traditions while providing exceptional service in a welcoming and refined environment.
Position Summary
The Grill Captain serves as the floor leader for our upscale casual dining operation, overseeing service execution in a dining venue that accommodates approximately 130 indoor seats and 80 outdoor patio seats. This individual will work closely with Food & Beverage Management to ensure exceptional Member experiences, maintain service standards, support staff development, and ensure smooth daily operations.
The Captain is expected to be highly visible on the floor at all times, proactively engage with Members and guests, and assist the service team wherever needed.
Essential Responsibilities
- Lead daily service operations in the Grill Dining Room and Garden Terrace
• Supervise and support servers, bussers, runners, and support staff
• Ensure all opening, side work, and closing duties are completed properly
• Maintain consistency in service standards and dining room presentation
• Assist with implementation and reinforcement of staff training programs
• Support management with nightly operational reporting as needed
• Address Member requests and service concerns promptly and professionally
• Monitor service flow and assist staff during peak periods
• Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment
• Maintain strong communication with culinary and management teams
Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of hospitality experience required
• Private Club experience preferred
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of food, wine, and cocktails
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to service excellence
• Professional demeanor and polished communication skills
• Ability to build relationships with Members and guests
• TABC Certification required
• Food Handler Certification required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work both indoors and outdoors as business demands require
