We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead quality assurance and quality control operations within a high-volume distribution environment supporting the retail DIY, OEM, and professional plumbing wholesale markets. This role is ideal for a hands-on quality leader with strong ISO 9001 experience, Lean/Six Sigma methodology expertise, and a proven background managing quality in a high-SKU environment.
The Quality Manager will partner closely with Engineering, Sourcing, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to ensure product quality, supplier performance, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives across a diverse plumbing product portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead quality operations across inbound, in-process, and outbound product flow to ensure compliance with quality standards and customer expectations.
• Develop and manage supplier quality programs including audits, corrective actions, scorecards, and defect trend analysis.
• Drive root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for customer complaints, returns, field failures, and non-conforming materials.
• Establish and maintain inspection standards and quality control plans for a large volume of SKUs across multiple product categories.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 quality standards and support ongoing quality system improvements.
• Utilize Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to reduce defects, improve supplier performance, and enhance operational efficiency.
• Maintain quality documentation, reporting, traceability, and recall readiness procedures.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Sourcing teams on new product onboarding and supplier qualification.
• Train warehouse and quality personnel on inspection procedures, defect identification, and quality expectations.
• Lead and develop quality team members in a fast-paced distribution environment.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of quality management experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
• Strong ISO 9001 experience and understanding of quality management systems.
• Lean and/or Six Sigma experience with demonstrated continuous improvement success.
• Experience working in a high-SKU environment with complex product lines.
• Proven experience managing supplier quality and driving accountability.
• Strong knowledge of quality tools and methodologies including RCA, 5 Whys, Fishbone, and CAPA.
• Experience with ERP/WMS systems such as SAP or Oracle.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred:
• Experience in plumbing products, building materials, or hardware industries.
• Familiarity with NSF/ANSI standards, low-lead regulations, and cUPC requirements.
• ASQ, Lean, or Six Sigma certification.
• Experience supporting both domestic and international suppliers.
• Experience in distribution center operations.
Work Environment:
• Primarily based in a distribution center and warehouse environment with regular time spent on the floor.
• Occasional domestic and international travel may be required for supplier audits and product onboarding.
