Summary:
The Regional Sales Manager (RSM) is a key leadership position within the Cook Compression sales team reporting directly to the Sales Director. In this role, the RSM will contribute directly to the formulation and execution of strategic sales programs to expand the Cook Compression addressable market while also solidifying Cook’s preeminent positions in our core markets and products. The Regional Sales Manager will have direct influence and responsibility to achieve sales and revenue goals aligned with the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) within the assigned geographic territory. This is a high impact role with significant influence in how Cook Compression delivers on its value proposition to it’s new and existing customer base.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Leadership:
o Develop sales programs and strategies within assigned region to include identification of new channel partners and increasing the effectiveness of existing channel partners through tailored incentive plans.
o Develop and foster high level relationships with key customers and distribution partners within assigned region.
o Assess competitive positioning within key customers of our products, guide pricing strategies to maximize revenue & profit.
o Engage and partner with cross functional leaders in manufacturing, supply chain, and engineering to progress continuous improvement projects and communication protocols to ensure successful delivery of the Company’s core value proposition, speed of delivery
Team Leadership:
o Ensure sales representatives understand and are accountable for compliance and execution of maintaining/exceeding sales goals on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
o Mentor sales representatives through customer visits, on-going dialogue regarding performance and providing candid and constructive feedback
o Identify talent and potential in others; put the right people in the right job at the right time;
o Provide accurate reports of sales forecasts, develop opportunity pipeline, bookings performance and strategic initiative achievement
o Analyze key business metrics and input plans in place for improvement
o Effectively manage expense budgets, team goals and internal resources
- Function as an integral member of the sales management team and interacts effectively and collaboratively across all functions
- Determine customer needs by asking questions, listening, and responding promptly;
- Follow Company procedure regarding customer complaints ensuring working cross functionally with appropriate departments
- Understand market penetration in the assigned geography and develop sales plans to target competitors and assist in increasing market share.
- Coordinate training and educational programs with customers/end-users.
- Partners with Director of Sales and other Regional Sales Managers to drive effective communication and business process alignment with Operations, Engineering, Quality and Inside Sales
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field highly preferred
- 8-10 years of outside industrial sales experience in reciprocating and/or rotating equipment or related field
- 3-5 years of direct people management experience preferred, sales team management preferred
- Working knowledge or background in engineering concepts and methodologies as it relates to manufacturing and installations of rotating equipment
- Driven for success and acts with a sense of urgency to support the customer base.
- Demonstrated ability to understand customer’s problems and to develop solutions which meet or exceed the customer’s expectations.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills – Ability to interface with customers at all levels within the organization both internally and externally.
- Microsoft O365 including apps such as Teams, SharePoint, intermediate skills in Excel
- Must possess current, valid driver’s license with insurable driving record
