Operating Room Nurse

Job Summary We are seeking an experienced , part-time , Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) to join our team at Memorial Hermann Surgery Center - Southwest. This role is essential to ensuring safe and efficient surgical care. The ideal candidate has strong clinical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced OR setting. Key Responsibilities Prepare the operating room and ensure all necessary equipment and instruments are available and functioning. Assess patients before surgery, verify consents, and address any immediate concerns. Serve as a circulating nurse during procedures, ensuring adherence to sterile techniques and patient safety protocols. Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical technologists to ensure smooth workflow. Monitor patient status intraoperatively and respond promptly to changes. Maintain accurate, detailed documentation in accordance with facility and regulatory standards. Follow AORN standards and facility policies consistently. Participate in ongoing quality improvement and performance initiatives. Maintain current certifications and complete annual competencies. Required Skills Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Thorough understanding of operating room procedures and sterile techniques. Ability to work effectively in a high-stress, fast-paced surgical environment. Required Experience Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Current Texas RN license (or compact license). Minimum 1 year of OR nursing experience required; 3 years preferred. BLS and ACLS required; PALS preferred. CNOR certification a plus.
