: P003785 Position Type Part-Time Position Status Part Time Grant Funded No Grant Funding Source NA Category Clerical Class Code 35 Starting Pay $16.55 Department DT Business Services Job Summary Reporting to the Manager of Business Services, the Business Services Assistant is responsible for providing administrative, computer, and customer service skills in the performance of a variety of duties to maintain accounting records and reports. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Essential Performance Requirements*
  • Assists with all HigherOne customer service related issues, such as assisting students, faculty and staff in person, by telephone, or by email
  • Processes payments, petty cash, and miscellaneous deposits; balances cash drawers
  • Corresponds with payment plan company and collection agencies in order to maintain current and past tuition and miscellaneous accounts
  • Computes and records charges and refunds; may assist with refunds, collections, student allocation of military benefits, and 1098T inquiries
  • Distributes employee timecards and paychecks
  • Distributes and receives keys from faculty, staff, and administrators; receives lost and found items and distributes claimed items
Service Excellence
  • Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
  • Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
  • Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College
Supervision Works under the general supervision of the Manager of Business Services
  • Performs Other Related Tasks as Required

Required Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
  • Two (2) years of customer service and cash handling experience
  • At least one (1) year's working experience in a team-centered environment
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal relationships
  • Skilled using computer applications and enterprise systems, including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
  • Skilled in using a calculator, keyboarding, and ten-key by touch

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representatives of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Special Instructions Summary This is a part-time position, with a maximum of 19.5 hrs. per week. Flexibility is required as part-time work schedules may vary based on individual campus/departmental needs including evenings and weekends.
