Responsibilities

Implement and supervise physical exercise programs for patients.

• Provide patient testing and assessment before and after rehabilitation.
• Plan and teach exercise therapy for patients utilizing test data, patient status and current medication regimen. Monitor patient's response and revise plan accordingly.
• Recognize contraindications and abnormal patient responses to exercise. Respond appropriately to all situations including exercise cessation and referral to medical professionals.
• Provide exercise information for patients, peers and the community which may include public speaking and education classes.
• Ensure department equipment is properly maintained, calibrated and functioning correctly. Prepare, develop and maintain various files, records, reports; schedule patient appointments as required.
• Provide oversight to department activities in the absence of the manager.

Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Exercise Physiologist specializing in Strength & Conditioning credentialed from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) preferred.

Education

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Master's degree preferred.

Additional Preferences

• Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science/Physiology or other related Allied Health Studies with a minimum of 3 months internship within Cardiac Rehab highly desirable.
• Experience within Phase I and II Cardiac Rehab preferred.
• Certified Cardiac Rehab Professional Certification or ACSM Clinical Exercise Physiologist Certification preferred.
