Java Developer for AI System Training

Build and maintain scalable Java backend systems that provide high-quality, real-world inputs used to train and evaluate next-generation AI models. This role focuses on backend engineering with Spring Boot and microservices, and will directly influence how models learn, reason, and perform. No prior AI experience is required, domain and backend expertise are the priority.

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems using Java and Spring Boot.
• Architect and implement robust microservices solutions to meet complex application requirements.
• Collaborate with the customer team to review technical specifications and deliver high-quality code.
• Contribute technical insights to improve application performance, reliability, and security.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
• Document technical processes and solutions with clear, concise written communication.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize backend systems as needed.

• Expert proficiency in Java programming.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot for backend development.
• Strong knowledge of microservices architecture and design principles.
• Proven ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
• Solid understanding of REST APIs, data structures, and backend best practices.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with close attention to detail.
• Experience collaborating with remote teams in a fast-paced environment.

• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Prior experience on AI-driven or data-intensive projects.
• Background in high-availability or distributed systems.

Engagement type, contractor. Location, remote. You will work as an independent contractor collaborating with the customer and the engineering team to deliver backend systems and related documentation.

Pay range, $30 - $90 per hour.

Candidates must be able to work as independent contractors and receive hourly compensation. Remote candidates are accepted. No prior AI experience is required, the role emphasizes backend and domain expertise.
