Position Overview

The Investment Adviser Representative (IAR) / Financial Planning Advisor will work directly with existing clients and referrals to identify retirement planning, investment management, wealth accumulation, income planning, and insurance opportunities.

This position focuses on helping clients create and implement comprehensive financial strategies while coordinating closely with our insurance team to deliver a holistic planning experience.

The ideal candidate enjoys planning more than prospecting and prefers working with warm relationships rather than relying exclusively on cold outreach.

What You'll Do

Financial Planning & Advisory Services

  • Conduct retirement planning and comprehensive financial review appointments

  • Analyze existing investment accounts, retirement plans, and annuities

  • Evaluate client goals, objectives, and risk tolerance

  • Develop customized financial planning recommendations

  • Present advisory solutions and investment strategies

  • Assist clients with retirement income planning and wealth preservation strategies

  • Discuss legacy planning and long-term financial objectives

Client Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships

  • Conduct ongoing portfolio and financial plan reviews

  • Serve as a trusted advisor throughout the client lifecycle

  • Deliver exceptional client service and communication

  • Maintain high client retention through proactive planning and support

Business Development Through Existing Relationships

  • Generate planning opportunities from current insurance clients

  • Collaborate with insurance producers on cross-referral opportunities

  • Participate in client appreciation events, educational workshops, and seminars

  • Develop centers of influence with attorneys, accountants, and other professionals

  • Expand relationships through referrals and introductions

Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate client records and documentation

  • Follow all compliance, regulatory, and fiduciary requirements

  • Utilize CRM systems to manage client interactions and planning activities

  • Follow established advisory and planning processes

Preferred Qualifications

Required

  • Active Series 65 registration

  • Active Series 6 registration

  • Minimum 2 years of advisory, financial planning, or investment experience

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • CRM proficiency

  • Ability to work independently while following established processes

  • Professional presentation and consultative approach

Preferred

  • Life & Health Insurance License

  • CFP®, ChFC®, CFA®, or currently pursuing a professional designation

  • Retirement planning experience

  • Wealth management experience

  • Insurance-based advisory experience

  • Experience working with pre-retirees and retirees

  • Strong understanding of investment and income planning strategies

Compensation Structure

Base Salary

  • $42,000–$70,000 annually, depending on experience, licensing, and qualifications

Advisory Revenue Compensation

  • 30% payout on first-year managed revenue

  • 35% payout after reaching annual production thresholds

  • Revenue-sharing opportunities on advisory fees

  • Additional compensation for life insurance and annuity production

Performance Incentives

  • Bonus opportunities tied to:

    • Assets Under Management (AUM) growth

    • Client retention

    • Advisory production

    • Planning activity metrics

Income Potential

Successful advisors have the opportunity to significantly increase earnings through advisory fee growth, insurance production, annuity placements, and long-term client retention.

First-Year Success Metrics

First 90 Days

  • Complete onboarding and compliance training

  • Review top 100 client households

  • Conduct 25 financial reviews

  • Submit initial advisory recommendations and cases

First 6 Months

  • Complete 50+ client reviews

  • Generate $1 million–$2 million in new advisory assets

  • Establish centers of influence and referral relationships

  • Build a consistent planning activity schedule

First 12 Months

  • Generate $3 million–$5 million in net new advisory assets

  • Maintain 90%+ client retention

  • Develop a sustainable planning pipeline

  • Become a trusted advisor within the firm's client base
