Payroll Manager
ITOCHU Building Products (IBP) Holdings has an immediate need for a Payroll Manager. Our company is the largest leading manufacturer and wholesale distributor of fence and deck products in North America.
ITOCHU Building Products (IBP) Holdings is comprised of Master Halco Fence & Deck Supply, Alta Forest Products, US Premier Tube Mills, and Daiken North America.
Position Summary:
The Payroll Manager is responsible for the oversight and management of all aspects of our payroll and HR processing across multiple states and countries for multiple entities. This individual will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate payroll runs, maintaining compliance with tax regulations and labor laws, managing vendor relationships, and collaborating cross-functionally with Operations, HR, and Finance teams.

Payroll Operations:
- Utilize ADP WFN’s payroll and time and labor systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of all weekly, bi-weekly, and off-cycle payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, discrepancies, bonuses and other payroll functions for multiple company profiles.
- Monitor all system requirements related to the payroll, and timekeeping applications.
- Conduct internal audits, reconciliations, and quality checks to verify accuracy of payroll data.
- Work closely with Finance/Accounting to reconcile payroll expenses, report liabilities, and prepare journal entries.
- Identify opportunities to streamline payroll workflows, implement best practices, and enhance system and controls.
- Serve as the main point of contact for payroll-related inquiries from employees and internal stakeholders.
Systems & Reporting:
- Administer and maintain HR/payroll systems (ADP); implement system upgrades and troubleshoot issues.
- Generate payroll reports for Finance and HR, and support audits with accurate data.
- Develop, maintain, and generate recurring and ad hoc reports related to payroll, headcount, turnover, and compliance.
- Generate and present payroll reports, dashboards, and metrics to senior leadership.
- Ensure proper integration of payroll with timekeeping, benefits, and accounting systems.
Compliance:
- Stay up to date on federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and ensure compliance with wage and hour regulations.
- Review tax communications, filings, W-2s, and other required filings and reports.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors during audits and ensure adherence to internal controls.
Process Improvement & Leadership:
- Leads, coaches, and motivates team to ensure effective payroll operations in support of business priorities.
- Identify and implement opportunities for process automation and efficiency improvements.
- Develop, document, and maintain payroll procedures and training materials.
- Interdepartmental collaboration – partner with HR to facilitate onboarding, terminations, benefits updates and payroll-related changes.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, finance, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in payroll processing, to include multi-state and/or multi-entity payroll. administration.
- Strong proficiency in HR technology, including payroll software (ADP Workforce Now (WFN)) and HRIS integration.
- Deep understanding of federal/state payroll legislation, tax filings, and multi-state payroll administration.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience - ideally managing at least two direct reports.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
Required Skills / Abilities:
- Meticulous approach to data accuracy and confidentiality.
- Ability to configure, maintain, and audit HRIS workflows, pay groups, system integrations, and role-based security access.
- Exceptional communication, analytical, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization, including executive leadership.
- High level of attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
- Strong customer support experience.
- Exceptional organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills.
Work Environment: Office Environment and/or Remote
Physical Demands: This job requires the ability to sit, stand, lift and/or move.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: Monday through Friday 8 hours a day; at times more than 8 hours.
Travel: Minimal.
