Mental Health First Aid Coordinator
- Become certified instructor and conduct MHFA trainings (Ault, Youth and Specialty Modules).
- Effectively present MHFA training information.
- Delivers training in a classroom, e-learning environment and/or blended learning.
- Assist with recruitment of MHFA Instructors.
- Manage credentialing process for MHFA Instructors (re-certification and dual certification).
- Develop and maintain relationships with other Community Center’s and local MHFA Instructors and Coordinators.
- Work with the Education Service Center in the local service area to communicate the trainings offered.
- Develop and implement short- and long- term goals and objectives for the MHFA program.
- Manage program schedule including promotion, registration, billing, and evaluation processes.
- Arrange and set up training events.
- Produce reports, data entry for pre- and post- work, and evaluations for the course and other instructors.
- Conduct outreach and form new partnerships.
- Attend community-based meetings to disseminate and market the MHFA program.
- Secure Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for MHFA training when needed.
- Answer telephone and emails in a timely, professional, friendly and helpful manner.
- Previous experience in public speaking, teaching, or training in some capacity is highly preferred.
- Experience in a behavioral health setting and work with consumers is highly preferred.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Psychology, Social Work, Human Resources, organizational development, education, or a related field is preferred. At a minimum, a High School Diploma or GED is required. Certificates and Licensures:
Mental Health First Aid instructor in Adult MHFA.
Mental Health First Aid instructor in Youth MHFA.
Mental Health First Aid modules and other courses that may become available.
If not currently certified, you must obtain certification within three (3) months of hire.
Valid Texas Driver’s License and automobile insurance required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, to include Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and Zoom Video Communications and multiple social media platforms and the ability to utilize the tools.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Superior organizational skills, and the ability to timely and accurately complete tasks.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Knowledge of training procedures and techniques, of group processes, group dynamics and interpersonal relations, and of instructional and curriculum design.

- Ability to operate a computer, related software, and a telephone, as well as a fax, photocopier, printer, calculator, and scanner.
- Ability to formulate learning objectives, to develop training objectives, to assess the effectiveness of training, to assess training needs and to communicate effectively.
- Self-motivated and the ability to work independently.
- Ability to maintain regular and timely attendance.
- Ability to learn about and implement trauma-informed care practices within the scope of work for the position.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time, moderate physical activity such as walking and traveling. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, stand, walk, balance on two feet, stoop, twist, reach with arms and hands.
- The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Mental demands include concentration and attention to detain, self-direction, the ability to learn and adapt to changes, exercise discretion and good judgment, exhibit courteous and professional behavior, deal with stressful situations and adhere to center policies and procedures.
- May need to flex schedule for evening and weekend work as job duties demand. Will require travel to work locations within the six (6) county areas served. Travel is 80% local and 20% regional.
- Willingness to teach at work sites of community members. Teach Adult and/or Youth Mental Health First Aid at a minimum three (3) classes per month keeping curriculum fidelity and maintaining high instructors standing.
- Must have and maintain a level of general health that permits the performance of the job duties and ability to maintain regular attendance as set forth in center policies and procedures.
Hours: 8AM-5PM M-F with possible variations
Salary: $45,000-$55,000 annually/$21.6346-26.4423 hourly **Depending on Education & Experience**
