Position Summary
The Business Relationship Manager is responsible for driving organic growth by developing new business relationships, expanding core business deposits, and deepening member engagement. This field-based role focuses heavily on outbound prospecting, networking, and community involvement to generate new business opportunities and strengthen existing partnerships.
The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter with strong consultative sales skills, a proven track record in business banking or relationship-based sales, and the ability to build lasting relationships with business owners and decision-makers.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and grow business banking relationships through proactive outreach and networking
• Generate new business accounts and expand existing member relationships
• Conduct cold calling, outbound prospecting, and referral generation activities
• Attend networking functions, community events, and business development meetings
• Deliver presentations to prospective and existing business members
• Build and maintain a strong pipeline using CRM and tracking tools
• Collaborate with internal departments to ensure a seamless onboarding and service experience
• Promote business deposit products and financial solutions aligned with member needs
• Ensure compliance with all credit union policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
• Develop and execute an individual business development strategy to achieve performance goals
Qualifications
• Four-year business degree preferred or equivalent professional experience
• 3–5 years of experience in business banking, business development, or relationship-based sales
• Proven success in field-based business development and outbound prospecting
• Strong consultative sales, presentation, and negotiation skills
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities
• Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
• Working knowledge of business deposit products and financial services
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• High level of professionalism, discretion, diplomacy, and sound judgment
• Creative, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to adapt quickly
• Strong commitment to achieving and exceeding performance goals
