Job Summary Processes and investigates damages to CenterPoint Energy. Invoices and negotiates with the damaging party to collect for damages as appropriate. Assists outside collection agencies and legal counsel as required. Applies advanced knowledge in multiple aspects of claims management. This position's report to location is flexible and can report within any CenterPoint Energy service territory area. Essential Functions
  • Conducts or assists in the investigation of damages to electric and gas facilities as well as automobile and other property damage claims filed by the Company.
  • Conducts site visits as necessary; sometimes taking photographs, measurements and collecting information to pursue a claim for damages.
  • Utilizes various business software and a claims database such as RiskMaster to accurately capture and record claims data.
  • Discusses and negotiates claim settlements with claimants, insurance companies and attorneys.
  • Assists the Legal Department and CenterPoint Energy's outside counsel to represent the company in lawsuits, mediation or various other legal proceedings.
  • Directs outside agencies with collections and other related activities.
  • Performs other duties that may be assigned at the Company's discretion.
  • Evaluates processes and works with other departments to identify streamlining and efficiency opportunities.
  • Collaborates with various teams to improve collection efforts and success.
Education Description
  • Bachelor's degree required
    • Will consider relevant job-related CenterPoint Energy experience for non-degree candidates
Experience
  • No prior work experience required
    • Experience in a field related to third party damage claims that includes collection and investigation; or experience in a field operations position that requires knowledge of the electric/gas distribution system, where customer contact occurs on a regular basis is preferred.
