Systems Engineer III

Assured Information Security (AIS) has an opening for a Systems Engineer III to join our SecureView team. This is an onsite position located at our headquarters in Rome, NY. This position is responsible for the testing, verification and validation of requirements, highly technical troubleshooting, root cause analysis, risk analysis, managing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and integrating software in support of SecureView.

What You’ll Do:

• Testing, verification and validation of trusted systems that facilitate secure cross-domain access and data transfer across multiple security levels.
• Participating in system, exploratory and ad-hoc testing as well as executing and writing formal test procedures across functional and security requirements.
• Participate in design and architecture discussions and will provide system administration focused solutions to complex software components from initial design through testing and deployment/release.
• Maintain network infrastructure including all hardware and software for SecureView implementation and will ensure data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
• Implement and promote standard operating procedures and will conduct hardware and software audits of workstation and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies and configuration guidelines.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate trusted system solutions into larger enterprise environments.
• Stay up to date with the latest advancements in secure systems, cross-domain solutions, and emerging security technologies.

Education/Experience/Skillset Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or other related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5 years of experience in quality/test engineering, system engineering or network installation and administration
• 5 years of experience with Linux command line tools, including knowledge of scripting in Bash, Python, Perl or other similar paradigms.
• 3 years of experience with progressive technical experience related to information assurance/cyber engineering requirements, determination, development and implementation.
• 3 years of experience using, installing, maintaining and performing vulnerability remediation of Linux and Windows operating systems.
• 1 year of experience working with security systems engineering involving various computer hardware and software operating systems and application solutions in both stand-alone and LAN/WAN configurations.
• 1 year of experience with test case management, design and execution.
• 1 year of experience with enterprise-scale IT infrastructure maintenance and troubleshooting.

Preferred Experience/Skillset:

• Experience applying STIGs
• Knowledge of Aruba and Cisco networking hardware
• Knowledge of VMWare/ESXi
• Understanding of Virtual Private Networks, VPN tunnels, etc.
• Operational proficiency in of virtualization systems deployment in VMWare and containerized solutions
• Intermediate knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Perl, Bash and other interpreted languages
• Intermediate knowledge of Git, GitLab, Ubuntu and RedHat systems

Clearance Required: Ability to obtain/maintain a Secret Clearance

Travel Required: Up to 10%

US Salary Range: $88,781 - $125,000
The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on several factors including location, skills, and experience. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package which includes employer paid health insurance and a 7% contribution to your 401k, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation.
