Position Summary

5k Ranch & Properties is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant with experience in real estate accounting to support day-to-day financial operations across our ranch, land, and property portfolio. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with month-end close, and ensuring property-level accounting is handled efficiently and in compliance with company policies and GAAP standards.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with property accounting, development cost tracking, and multi-entity environments.

Key Responsibilities

General Accounting

• Prepare and post journal entries.

• Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.

• Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.

• Maintain general ledger accuracy across multiple entities.

• Support preparation of financial statements and internal reports.

Real Estate & Property Accounting

• Record rental income, land sales, and other property-related transactions.

• Assist with lease administration and tenant billing (if applicable).

• Track development and construction costs, ensuring proper allocation to projects.

• Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation tracking.

• Support escrow accounting and loan draw documentation.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

• Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payments.

• Prepare and distribute customer invoices.

• Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding balances.

Budgeting & Reporting Support

• Assist with budget preparation and variance analysis.

• Provide support for cash flow forecasting.

• Compile financial data for lenders, investors, and leadership reporting.

Compliance & Audit Support

• Maintain organized documentation for audits and tax filings.

• Assist with annual 1099 preparation and other compliance reporting.

• Ensure adherence to company policies and internal controls.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.

• 2–4 years of accounting experience, with real estate or property accounting experience strongly preferred .

• Working knowledge of GAAP.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

• Experience with accounting software (real estate or property management systems a plus).

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

Preferred Experience

• Exposure to land development or agricultural property accounting.

• Experience working in a multi-entity structure.

• Familiarity with construction cost tracking and job costing.
