The Diagnostic Imaging Supervisor oversees the daily operations of a section within Diagnostic Imaging at the Northwest Houston Diagnostic Imaging Center .

The Diagnostic Imaging Supervisor is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care while coordinating clinical, technical, and operational activities across assigned imaging services. This role works closely with radiologists, technologists, nurses, and administrative partners to support seamless imaging operations.

Responsibilities

Clinical Operations & Patient Care
  • Resolve clinical operations and patient care issues while performing patient care activities within professional scope of practice
  • Ensure patient, family, staff, and visitor safety through continuous environmental monitoring
  • Screen patients with implanted devices and manage clinical and research clearance processes
  • Recognize patient distress and initiate or assist with emergency response teams
  • Adhere to infection control practices, sterile technique, and safe contrast media administration
  • Apply age-specific criteria and identify critical findings requiring immediate radiologist notification
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of imaging rooms, dressing rooms, and work areas

Safety, Compliance & Documentation
  • Maintain strict access control to clinical areas and follow all safety guidelines
  • Adhere to HIPAA requirements to protect patient privacy and confidentiality
  • Ensure accurate, complete, and timely patient documentation and demographic verification
  • Monitor radioactive material levels, decontaminate areas as needed, and dispose of materials appropriately
  • Document incidents, variances, and patient concerns in PSN and escalate within required timeframes

Leadership, Staffing & Communication
  • Demonstrate flexibility to patient care demands including schedule coverage and emergency ride-out team responsibilities
  • Lead huddles, staff meetings, and chair events while completing shift reports and follow-up
  • Foster a supportive learning environment for staff, students, and trainees through coaching and mentoring
  • Coordinate staff scheduling, Kronos responsibilities, and attendance at required training and events

Operational Excellence & Quality Improvement
  • Maximize productivity and patient flow by collaborating with multidisciplinary care teams
  • Manage scheduling capacity to minimize delays and improve patient on-time starts
  • Assist with development and implementation of policies, procedures, and workflow improvements
  • Participate in quality and performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient experience
  • Perform downtime procedures during system failures and report operational gaps

Technical & Systems Oversight
  • Ensure technical proficiency, protocol adherence, and high-quality imaging exams
  • Supervise equipment operation, quality assurance activities, and maintenance reporting
  • Ensure accurate data entry across RIS, PACS, CARE, modality systems, and billing platforms
  • Monitor productivity standards, error rates, equipment logs, and compliance with accreditation

EDUCATION
  • Required: Graduate of a Radiology Technology, Ultrasound Technology, or Nuclear Medicine Technology program. or
  • Required: Associate's Degree Applied Science degree.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree Related field.
WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Required: 2 years Experience as a Registered Technologist. and
  • Required: 1 year Lead/supervisory experience.
  • Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate and/or LEADing Self Discover programs may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Completion of both programs can be substituted for a maximum of two years of supervisory or management experience.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Required: CMRT - Cert Medical Radiologic Tech Licensure by the Texas Medical Board (TMB). Upon Hire and
  • Required: ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT). Upon Hire or
  • Required: NMTCB - Nuclear Medicine Tech Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB). Upon Hire or
  • Required: ARDMS - Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonography Registration by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). Upon Hire
  • Preferred: Certified/registered in respective modality. Upon Hire
  • Preferred: CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation Upon Hire
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
