ABOUT THE Division
General description
The Web Applications Tax and Reporting development team in Information Technology division is a dynamic workforce that builds world-class tax solutions. We are looking for a Jr. Front-end Applications Developer to join us on a dedicated team crafting visually stunning and seamlessly functional web applications for our application portfolio. In this role, you will perform computer programming work for the design and development of front-end services for web applications using React.JS, JavaScript, and REST APIs in a microservices environment. You will work closely with senior developers and cross functional teams to implement new features, troubleshoot issues, and ensure a consistent user experience. Work Hours
Work Hours are 8:00AM to 5:00PM, 40-hour week, Monday – Friday. Occasionally work additional hours on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays, including working on-call 24 hours a day during a rotation. Hours may change based on business need.
Teleworking may be considered if certain working conditions are met. The candidate must have permanent residency within the state of Texas and must be able to meet in office requirements, which can vary among different sections (i.e. report to office 1 day/month, 3 days/week, etc.). Travel reimbursements are not provided for teleworking.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university and pursing an associate or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems or a related field.
- Experience in the design and coding of web applications utilizing React.JS and JavaScript.
- Experience in Web development technologies and platforms (i.e. Apache, React.JS, Microservices).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited community college/university with an associate or higher degree in computer science or web development.
- Experience with modern JavaScript microframeworks (React.JS, Vue.JS).
- Experience with 508 compliance, specifically for responsive design/mobile.
- An understanding of Service-Oriented Architecture and microservices
Substitutions:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college/university with a bachelor’s degree in computer science or web development related field can substitute for work experience
In this role you will:
- Develops routine coding tasks in React.JS, JavaScript, and related technologies based on business requirements.
- Develops test cases and integration testing of applicable changes based on requirements.
- Assists in analyzing software problems and solutions.
- Adheres to established architecture, design & coding standards.
- Assists in performing research and analysis to define specifications for current or proposed software applications.
- Prepares detailed diagrams/documentation to capture application workflow logic.
- Participates in Agile Scrum team status, planning, and review sessions.
- Participates in structured peer reviews/walkthroughs.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned, including responding to problems in an on-call situation 24 hours a day during a rotation.
