Organizational Profile

San Japan is the Largest Anime & Gaming Convention in the South Texas Region. It takes place at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center and San Antonio Grand Hyatt in downtown San Antonio on Labor Day Weekend. San Japan is a fan-run organization providing an annual anime-focused convention.

Reporting Relationships

ImagineX Productions is partnering with ticketing platform TicketSpice to lead the registration for the San Japan Anime Convention. You will be hired be ImagineX Productions and we will be working together to execute the vision of the San Japan planning team.

Position Description

The Registration team will lead all attendee check-in booths and ensure that tickets are scanned and purchased in a positive and efficient way, with the goal of creating a positive experience for everyone checking in. The primary location of their work is at the convention center at the main entrance of the venue. Registration team members will set up support setup as needed.

Availability and Commitment

We will have a full team training on the first day. From there we have various shifts available.

Day 1 - Thursday, September 3

6pm - 12am

Day 2 - Friday, September 4

7:30am - 11:00pm

Day 3 - Saturday, September 5

8am - 11:00pm or 8:00am - 6:00pm

Day 4 - Sunday, September 6

Sunday, September 3

9am - 5pm

General Duties

• Assist in the set-up and breakdown of infrastructure, including tents, tables, barricades, lanes, and signage.
• Use scanning systems and equipment to scan tickets and charge for ticket purchases.
• Use reservation system and equipment to verify guest reservations and hand correct badge for entrance into the venue.
• Assist in troubleshooting ticketing issues and working towards a resolution, escalating to Leaders as appropriate.
• Assist in facilitating on-site guest registration as available.
• Attend on-site staff meetings and execute tasks under the direction of the Reservations Manager and Leaders.

• Capability and comfort using smart electronic devices (tablets, smartphone) is a must.
• Excellent communication skills and collaborative work ethic.
• Capability and comfort being in large crowds of people.
• Possess the capacity to handle stressful situations with diplomacy and tact.
• Able to work efficiently in an organized and detailed fashion.
• Ability to adhere to San Japan policies, protocols and procedures.
• Able to maintain self-assurance and control during the concert day.
• Understanding of your own personal limits and ability to articulate those limits to your supervisor.
• Have a great sense of humor and maintain a dedication to San Japan mission.
• No experience is required but a good attitude, organizational skills and excellent work ethic is a must.

Physical Requirements

• Able to lift/carry 50lbs
• Able to experience periods of extended standing.
• Able to walk and climb considerable distances, including inclines/declines during the course of a work day.
• Able to grasp, lift, carry, push and pull heavy objects such as barricades, tables, tents.
• Able to stoop, crouch and kneel while placing signage throughout the Grove.
• The ability to listen and speak is required. In a typical work day the employee will be interacting with large groups of people and they must be able to hear and clearly express their ideas with spoken words.

Compensation

Starting at $25 per hour and is commensurate with experience.
