Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Med/Surg Tele Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Tele experience License: Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, NIHSS, EKG competency Must-Have: EKG competency Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional who coordinates patient care delivery by the healthcare team. Using the nursing process, the RN assesses the patient, identifies nursing diagnoses based on responses to health problems, develops and implements an individualized plan of care, and evaluates the patient's response. The RN promotes safe passage for their patients using knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment. The RN assists patients to transition through the healthcare encounter to avoid any preventable complications or delays. The RN delegates interventions to healthcare personnel based on each patient's condition and the competencies of the employee. The RN will work in hospital inpatient and outpatient departments with 24/7 staffing. Examples of areas include procedural units that require on-call staffing during off shifts. Essential Functions of the Role: Using clinical reasoning, conducts accurate clinical assessments according to practice standards. Identifies and prioritizes patient and family needs. Develops, implements, and evaluates the nursing plan of care. Modifies the plan to meet clinical outcomes. Systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice. Supports evidence-based practice changes through research utilization and experiential learning. Participates in quality and performance improvement initiatives. Creates a compassionate, supportive, and safe environment for patients, families, and staff. Develops therapeutic relationships with patients and families while maintaining appropriate boundaries. Manages both emotional and physical pain to promote comfort and healing. Recognizes and appreciates a patient and family's unique differences. Incorporates these differences into an individualized plan of care. Preserves and protects the confidentiality, autonomy, dignity, and rights of patients and families. Creates an individualized plan that accurately reflects their values and goals. Identifies and helps resolve ethical and clinical concerns. Facilitates learning for patients and families, nursing staff, and other healthcare team members. Integrates appropriate education throughout the continuum of care. Assesses and documents learning needs and outcomes. Works collaboratively and interdependently with colleagues to develop and implement an integrated plan of care. Open and sensitive to all team members' unique contributions. Delegates tasks and care to appropriate staff and ensures timely follow-up. Uses strategies for problem-solving for patients, family, and staff. Recognizes that resources are limited and considers safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in planning and delivering patient care. Improves nursing practice and the work environment through participation in decision-making processes. Identifies personal goals and commits to ongoing professional growth. Contributes to the professional development of peers and colleagues. Demonstrates commitment to community service. Knowledge and understanding of nursing and patient care standards and procedures are essential. Knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations governing nursing care is important. Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, is necessary. Interpersonal skills to interact with a wide range of constituencies are needed. Must have critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Ability to observe changes in patients' medical conditions and effectively communicate these changes. Ability to provide age-specific, quality, patient-centered care through the nursing process. General computer skills, including electronic medical documentation, are required.
