Senior Accountant
Role and Responsibilities
- Principal activities include oversight and assistance in processing accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipt and other general ledger transactions.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
- Review of general ledger and financial reporting to identify gaps, ensure proper accruals, and document variances.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to members of the accounting team, identify training gaps or process inefficiencies, and provide necessary training support or process improvement recommendations.
- Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Coordinate and facilitate monthly close process including journal entries, reconciliations and supporting schedules, and variance analysis.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of project/job costing and work closely with operations and project managers to support financial tracking.
- Oversee fixed asset management, depreciation schedules, and capital expenditure tracking.
- Assist with audits by providing required documentation and responding to inquiries.
- Review Sales Tax Preparation
- Collaborate with field teams and operations to streamline financial processes and improve cost control.
- Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.
- Support the CFO and Controller with budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience in a mid-sized company, PE backed is helpful.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, job costing, and project-based accounting practices.
- Experience in industrial services, construction, or manufacturing environments is highly desirable.
- Experience with multiple company environments
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Enterprise, Sage, Viewpoint, or similar ERP systems).
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Mobility: Ability to sit for extended periods at a desk or workstation; occasional walking or standing may be required during meetings or site visits.
- Manual Dexterity: Ability to use a computer keyboard, mouse, calculator, and standard office equipment efficiently.
- Lifting Requirements: Occasionally required to lift files, binders, or office equipment weighing up to 15 pounds.
- Vision Requirements: Must have visual acuity (with or without correction) sufficient for reading computer screens, spreadsheets, financial documents, and reports.
- Hearing and Speech: Sufficient for participation in virtual and in-person meetings, phone conversations, and team collaboration.
- Travel: Occasional travel to field offices, shop facilities, or job sites may be required to support job costing, audits, or collaboration with operations staff.
- Work Environment: Primarily office-based with exposure to warehouse or industrial settings during audits or walkthroughs (PPE required when visiting operational areas).
- The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.
The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done.
