DevOps Engineer
Careerscape is recruiting on behalf of our client, a fast-growing technology/SaaS company in Austin, TX, for a DevOps Engineer to help scale and harden the infrastructure powering their platform. This is a hybrid role for someone who thrives at the intersection of software engineering and systems reliability, building the CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and automation that let product teams ship quickly and confidently.
Day to day, you will spend time designing pipelines, tuning Kubernetes clusters, and chasing down the root cause of a flaky deploy or a subtle production alert. You will pair closely with software engineers to make delivery faster and safer, and with the wider infrastructure team to keep AWS and GCP environments secure, observable, and cost-efficient. People who thrive here are pragmatic automators who enjoy owning reliability end to end, communicate clearly under pressure, and take genuine satisfaction in turning manual toil into repeatable, self-service systems.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines that support frequent, reliable software releases
- Manage and scale cloud infrastructure across AWS and GCP using infrastructure as code
- Operate and optimize Kubernetes clusters and containerized workloads in production
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting to improve system observability and reliability
- Participate in on-call rotations and lead incident response and root cause analysis
- Automate manual operational tasks to reduce toil and improve deployment velocity
- Collaborate with software engineers to improve application deployability and performance
- Enforce infrastructure security best practices, including access controls and secrets management
- Evaluate and adopt new tools and practices to improve platform reliability and scalability
- Document infrastructure, runbooks, and operational procedures for the engineering team
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in a DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering role
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions
- Strong experience with public cloud platforms, particularly AWS and GCP
- Production experience with Docker and Kubernetes for container orchestration
- Proficiency with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
- Scripting or programming ability in Python, Bash, or Go for automation
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog
- Solid understanding of networking, security, and cloud cost optimization principles
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to lead incident response under pressure
Benefits
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) plan with employer match
- Generous paid time off and company holidays
- Hybrid work schedule with flexible hours
- Paid parental leave
- Professional development and certification reimbursement
- Home office stipend for hybrid setup
- Life and disability insurance
- Employee wellness program
- Collaborative, engineering-driven culture
