JOB DESCRIPTION: The Property Accountant is responsible for the company’s accounting duties of the business such as being responsible for taking care of the company’s bank accounts, petty cash, creditors, debtors, statutory returns, updating accounts payable and accounts receivable, issue invoices, perform reconciliations, and monthly reporting. This role will utilize strong accounting knowledge, effective problem solving, and time management skills to ensure success.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: (including, but not limited to, the following activities)
• Perform month-end close process, including preparation of account reconciliations, journal entries, account analysis and monthly financial statement review for property portfolio.
• Review and approve accounts payable invoices.
• Perform quarterly financial variance analysis and lender requirements.
• Coordinate with external auditors/lenders for quarterly reviews and year-end audit.
• Maintains open communication with accounting team and property managers.
• Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
• Reconcile monthly bank statements to the general ledger.
• Assist in preparation and review of common area maintenance and real estate tax reconciliations. • Assist in review and preparation of annual property budgets.
• Special projects and other duties as needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Solid understanding of accounting processes.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and related products.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting REQUIRED.
• 2-5 years of commercial property management accounting experience required.
• Must be deadline focused, organized, and exhibit problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Interact effectively as part of a team.
• Handle a dynamic work environment with competing priorities.
• Build positive working relationships with employees at all levels within the organization.
• Exercise sound judgment when making decisions.
• Able to meet deadlines as necessary.

• “Can-do” attitude, pro-active and resourceful.
• Experience with MRI, Yardi, Timeberline and Avid Vendor pay, or other real estate accounting software is a plus.
