Paralegal

Careerscape
Austin, TX

Our client, a full-service civil litigation and business law firm based in downtown Austin, is seeking a detail-oriented Paralegal to join their team on a part-time basis. This role supports a team of practicing attorneys across multiple practice areas including contract law, commercial disputes, and regulatory compliance. Hours are structured and consistent, averaging 20–25 hours per week.

The Paralegal will be responsible for managing case files, preparing legal documents, conducting research, and serving as a point of coordination between attorneys, clients, and court staff. The firm handles a steady caseload and operates in a professional, process-driven environment where accuracy and deadlines are critical.

This is a strong opportunity for a candidate with paralegal experience who is looking for a stable, professionally engaging part-time role. The firm values thoroughness and clear communication over volume, and the position offers meaningful work alongside experienced legal professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and proofread legal documents including pleadings, motions, contracts, and correspondence
  • Conduct legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and related platforms
  • Organize, maintain, and retrieve physical and digital case files
  • Coordinate scheduling for depositions, hearings, and client meetings
  • File documents with state and federal courts and regulatory agencies
  • Track case deadlines and manage attorney calendars
  • Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, and opposing counsel
  • Assist attorneys in preparing materials for trials, mediations, and hearings

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years of paralegal or legal assistant experience in a law firm setting
  • Proficiency with legal research tools including Westlaw or LexisNexis
  • Working knowledge of civil litigation procedures and Texas court filing requirements
  • Experience with case management software such as Clio, MyCase, or similar platforms
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet firm deadlines independently
  • Notary Public certification in the State of Texas is a plus

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly pay between $22 and $32 based on experience
  • Consistent part-time schedule with set weekly hours
  • Paid sick leave in accordance with Austin's Paid Sick Leave ordinance
  • Access to professional legal research tools and firm resources
  • Collaborative environment with direct exposure to experienced attorneys
  • Employee referral bonus program
  • Potential for expanded hours based on caseload growth
  • Supportive onboarding process with structured training period
