QC Lab Technician

1 Resource Group has a contract to hire position located in Baytown, Texas. The QC Lab Technician will be responsible for the testing of manufactured products (raw material, in-process, and final product.) and providing support for all areas of laboratory work, concentrating on the accurate analysis of samples, ensuring the material meets both the customer and internal specifications for color and physical performance. The role will also include other aspects of Logistical responsibility of product analysis, retention, and creation of COA's. This role will be reporting directly to the Technical Manager and will interact with all departments across the business. Work will be a mixture of reactive and planned tasks prioritized by the Technical Manager. You will be responsible for supporting various stages of the production process, ensuring that production runs smoothly and efficiently. Your attention to detail, teamwork, and commitment to safety will be essential in maintaining high-quality masterbatch production.

 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

□ Perform acceptance testing of in-process samples, release testing for finished product through wet chemistry and instrumental analysis utilizing the following:

o TGA

o DSC

o UV/Vis

o Karl-Fischer Titrator

o Single/Twin Screw Extrusion and Injection Mold testing

o Other typical laboratory instrumentation (i.e. analytical balance; microscope)

□ Undertake color matching of customer inquiries.

□ Ensure production jobs presented for QC testing are evaluated to required standards in a timely manner.

□ Work with production and/or the QC Team Leader when QC fails to get to the root cause and assist in supplying appropriate corrective/preventative actions.

□ Maintain any QC results and retains in accordance with the ISO system.

□ Maintain accurate and legible records that align with Colloids ISO requirements as well as Good Documentation Practices (GDP)

□ Fulfill any other reasonable responsibility or duty as identified or requested by a team lead or Site Leadership Team

□ Laboratory administration such as filing, labelling, and entering formulation data onto databases.

□ General Housekeeping duties

□ Maintain and Track laboratory department Key Performance Indicator’s.

□ Check the samples against customer specification.

□ Perform investigations into laboratory deviations and NCR’s.

□ Budget, order, receive, maintain stock and track standards and reagents, disposable supplies and laboratory equipment

 


OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

□ Availability to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends, due to varying needs.

□ Maintain complete and open lines of communication with other personnel, functional groups, or departments to facilitate operations and interaction in the organization.

 

□ Keep Site Leadership Team informed of status and progress, by ensuring that regular and periodical communication takes place.

□ Maintain professional conduct, attendance, and high ethical standards in the workplace, complying with company's policies and procedures.

□ Fulfill mandatory training requirements applicable for department and job duties as appropriate. Ensure material transactions are completed correctly on the ERP.

□ Report all out of specification material through the ERP and to Management

□ Documentation is accurate and concise.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/ PHYSICAL DEMANDS & OTHERS REQUIREMENT

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is primarily in a controlled temperate environment however will be exposed to heat/cold during support of outside activities. Work is active in nature, and will require standing, walking, grasping, lifting/moving up to fifty pounds. The ability to read printed materials and written information on a computer screen is required.

Requirements

Position Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Prior experience working in a laboratory setting is highly desired.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment and instruments.
  • Familiarity with quality control processes and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with team members.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks

$21.00-$25.00 hr
