Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer / Manufacturing CAD Drafter to support sales, engineering, and production teams by creating accurate, manufacturing-ready drawings for fabrication, machining, and assembly.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a hands-on manufacturing environment , translating concepts, sketches, and redlines into clear, precise CAD documentation that drives production success. The right candidate will be organized, technically strong, and comfortable collaborating closely with engineers, fabricators, and shop personnel.

This is a temp-to-hire position , offering the opportunity to transition to full-time based on performance and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Convert marked-up sketches, redlines, and design concepts into detailed, production-ready CAD drawings
• Create and detail parts, weldments, and assemblies using CAD software
• Produce fully dimensioned fabrication drawings for shop and production use
• Generate cut lists, material callouts, and flat patterns as required
• Update and revise drawings to support Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)
• Maintain drawing revisions, documentation standards, and organized file structures
• Collaborate with sales, engineering, and production teams to address design and manufacturability issues
• Support continuous improvement of drafting standards and manufacturing documentation

Required Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)
• 2+ years of experience in mechanical drafting or manufacturing design (preferred)
• Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar
• Experience creating fabrication drawings, weldments, and assemblies
• Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerancing, and manufacturing processes
• Ability to interpret sketches, redlines, and engineering concepts accurately
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and documentation accuracy

Preferred Experience

• Sheet metal design and flat pattern development
• Experience with ECO processes and revision control
• Familiarity with machining, fabrication, and welding practices
